La Mechanique du Coeur

Or "The engine of the heart", in English, is a little gothic pocket
novel by Mathias Malzieu that one can read in one day, really tasty as it is filled
with emotions coming from the very heart of the main character. I quite enjoyed the reading but what called the most my attention was the phenomena of this book; When I bought it it was already on its 18th edition and, as I read later on the backcover, there is already a very successful soundtrack of the novel (available to hear freely here), and I guess that the rights for filming it in a movie wont't take too long to be bought. So it looks like a global novel that from it's very beginning aims to cover different media.

Maybe this global success comes from its very tittle that mix tow key words: engine and heart, two aspects that seems from the beginning irreconcilable. Who knows? No one has yet discovered the formula for the bestseller but this could be a clue, reconciliation. Could this be a signal of hope in the middle of the financial crisis we are yet trying to cope with?
